How to program a Security+ garage-door remote
Use these steps only after the opener or receiver and the replacement remote have been confirmed as compatible.
Find the Learn button →Preparation
Before you start
- Close the garage door and keep people, pets, vehicles, and objects clear of the door.
- Have the compatible remote ready before pressing the Learn button.
- Use the colored Learn button on the opener motor unit or active added receiver—not the wall control.
Programming sequence
Follow these steps
Find the Learn button
Look on the ceiling-mounted opener motor unit, often near the antenna wire or beneath the light cover.
Press and release the Learn button
Do not hold it down. Holding the button can erase programmed remotes on some systems.
Press the remote button
Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button you want to use until the opener light blinks or you hear two clicks.
Test the remote
Stand clear of the door, press the programmed button, and confirm that the door completes a normal cycle.
Troubleshooting
If it does not work
- Confirm that the remote matches the Learn-button color and radio system.
- Repeat the sequence within the 30-second programming window.
- Check the remote battery and make sure a separate added receiver is not controlling the door.
